Genoa Peak

Got Five Minutes to Help Save 540 Acres?

Located in Douglas County, NV off Genoa Peak Rd south of Spooner Summit, the Genoa Peak land acquisition will add 540-acres of private lands to public national forest. It is the first of two recommended projects for Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act (SNPLMA) funding in Environmentally Sensitive Land Acquisitions for Round 19!

Thank you to everyone who supported the project to the BLM. We will know soon whether the project is approved.

If successful, the USFS will acquire this land to protect sensitive species, consolidate National Forest lands, and improve recreational access to public lands. The Genoa Peak property is covered in mature forest and riparian vegetation near a Comstock era sawmill site, is on a popular OHV route (Genoa Peak Road) and near the Tahoe Rim Trail. Wildlife species include adjacent Goshawk nest sites, flammulated owls, mule deer, American Martin, bears, and mountain lions.
